It all began about ten years ago with a very special dog Shalidora Yule Saba to his friends, bred by a man who has become one of my closest friends aswell - John Blyth.
I had spent years with horses, showing my own, riding for other people and had dogs as pets as we all do, but then having lost both dogs within a short space of time, my father sent me off to find another one. Good or bad they both cost the same to look after, so a good one it was.
This dog was to be a pet, a companion, a bit of security for us, but not a show dog. I did not want to get into showing dogs, just the horses, how wrong can you be!!
I took him to the Essex County Show - Graham Bice was judging and put us last! and as luck (or not) would have it, this was the one show that John went to I can still see his face, and hear the words, "If you are going to show that dog, do it properly I'll handle him, stop messing about".
That was enough, I was hooked, Open shows, Champ Shows 2nd Special Yearling at the 2 Day National, Saba went everywhere - a super dog who helped me learn about the breed, showing, breeding and the making of some very special friends.
We then started looking for another male to come along behind him, and had a litter by Yago v Steigerhof, but although a lovely dog, Roly decided from a very early age that the ring was not really for him, and so another search led us to Michael and Steve Cox and Shotaan Natan, an Igel Wollenhaupt son, with a character to die for, what a goon, this dog was surely a comedian in a former life, unfortunately he had a few problems, and is now the kennel jester, but through Michael and Steve and my great friend Carol McGregor we heard about this beautiful Rafaye Igel daughter, Willowdale Emme, who was for sale. Bred in Ireland by Jean and Jackie Duff, Emme had already had 3 Champ show wins in Minor Puppy, and was the sort of animal that comes along once in a lifetime, a true SUPERSTAR, and as luck would have it Jean and Jackie agreed to sell her to us. This bitch has given us so much fun, she is absolutely fantastic, and hopefully she will produce for us aswell, watch this space!!
